ADMISSION POLICY & PROCESS

In keeping with our mission to offer all children a Biblical Worldview education, Hope Christian Academy (HCA) is committed to partnering with parents in the high calling of training children in the way they should go (Prov. 22:6).  We recognize that the ultimate responsibility for education rests with the parents (Deut. 6:7).  Our admission process is designed to determine whether a partnership between the family and HCA will meet the educational, spiritual, and developmental needs for the student.

Admission to Hope Christian Academy is based on the following criteria:

  • The student and family must demonstrate their commitment to receiving an education built upon an openly biblical worldview perspective by annually signing HCA’s Statement of Faith.
  • During the admissions process, the student and family must sign a statement of support indicating their willingness to adhere to the policies and procedures of HCA.
  • Students who have previously had discipline problems, been expelled or suspended from other schools, or had failing grades on their most recent report card may be admitted to HCA on a probationary basis as deemed appropriate.
  • Students’ academic records should demonstrate proven capabilities to succeed at HCA, requiring students to be performing at or above grade level with a minimum of 2.5 average and all passing grades.
  • It is the responsibility of the prospective family to communicate any known or suspected learning differences of a student during the application process.  HCA does not share such information with others without parental knowledge and permission.  While we cannot accommodate all learning differences, HCA is committed to assisting students with available resources through our Student Support Services.
  • As part of the Admissions Process, prospective families may be required to meet with an Administrator for a Parent Partnership Meeting.  The prospective student and parent(s) or guardian(s) must attend this meeting.

It is understood that attending Hope Christian Academy is a privilege and not a right, which may be forfeited by any student who does not conform to the standards and regulations.  The administration may request the withdrawal of any student at any time who does not fit into the spirit of HCA, regardless of whether or not the student conforms to the rules and regulations.

  1. New students transferring from other schools or homeschooled, in Kindergarten and above, may be tested to ensure that they are academically ready for the grade that they apply to enter.  If entrance tests indicate a student is deficient in some areas, either the parents will be notified that their child will be placed under academic probation during the first nine weeks
  2. the child may be entered in the previous grade
  3. the child may not be accepted or
  4. the child must be tutored and re-tested before school starts.

If placed on probation and adequate improvement is not shown, the child may then be placed in a more appropriate grade.  Testing is done by appointment only.  A copy of the student’s latest report card must also be brought in with registration materials.  All admissions are pending the acceptance of the administration and the receipt of records from the student’s previous school.  Each student is accepted on a 30-day trial basis to determine if the school is a good fit for the student.  If, during these 30 days, the school believes that HCA cannot meet the child’s needs, the family will still need to cover the cost of books and any other expenses incurred during that time.  Parents will be notified in advance if the student is not adjusting to our school.

The administration also reserves the right to refuse to define the criteria or reason when applicants are not accepted.

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION

APPLICATION TIMELINE

  • Current families re-enroll in January, and the deadline is March 30, 2026.  After re-enrollment, new applicants are accepted and placed as space becomes available.  While HCA continues to accept applications all year, many classes are full following the first round of acceptances.  To be considered in that group of applicants, all application forms, testing, and interviews should be completed as soon as possible, and, if necessary, interviews should be completed as soon as possible.
  • Enrollment opens to new families on January 30, 2026.
  • If an applicant is qualified to attend HCA but there are no spaces available in his or her grade, the applicant’s name will be placed on a wait list.  When / if an opening becomes available, new students will be added to those grades.
  • A child must be 5 years old before September 1st to begin kindergarten.  The Enrollment Committee may grant exceptions if the child demonstrates readiness by passing a school-readiness assessment.  All early childhood applicants must be able to care for restroom needs independently.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

STEP 1: APPLY

For families who are new to HCA and are transferring from a different school, a “school reference form” may be required to be completed and submitted directly to HCA by an administrator from the previous school.

Once all paperwork is submitted, schedule and attend a Parent Partnership Meeting with an HCA Administrator if one is requested.  This meeting will review the entrance assessments, foundational topics, and practical approaches intended to strengthen the partnership between HCA and your family.

STEP 2: ENROLL

Complete the enrollment form and submit the following:

  1. Nonrefundable enrollment fee: $100 for new students / $50 for returning students (applications submitted without this fee will not be processed)
  2. Signed documents included in the Enrollment Packet

To secure a place for your child, all enrollment documents and the non-refundable enrollment fee must be submitted within seven (7) days of notification of acceptance unless an Administrator approves an extension.
